#IDSAcademy2017: the first day

The third edition of #IDSAcademy started yesterday. This project is planned by Doc/it – Associazione Documentaristi Italiani. As the past two editions, the purpose is to bring together young videomakers and producers to share ideas, gather suggestions and promote new partnerships for documentary films productions.

During the first day of #IDSAcademy the videomakers took part in the matchmaking lab. Their documentaries, still in development, were presented to colleagues and experts. The lab took place in Cantieri Culturali della Zisa, at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. After a briefing the tutors Edoardo Fracchia (Producer, Stefilm International) and Massimo Arvat (Producer, Zenit Arti Audiovisive) divided the young directors in two groups, and started the laboratory that lasted until evening. The lab participants were:

Because of my body by Francesco Cannavà;

Il colore di sera by Spartaco Capozzi;

Il quinto figlio by Roberta Samperi and Ciro Valerio Gatto;

Il Tango della Vita by Erica Liffredo;

La classe by Pierfrancesco Li Donni;

L’ultimo volo per Punta Raisi by Gaetano Di Lorenzo;

Nel mondo by Danilo Monte and Laura D’Amore;

Obaida by Leonardo Cinieri Lombroso;

Scarti by Sara Pigozzo and Enrico Meneghelli;

Tango mucho qué contar by Federico Savonitto;

The brutalist project by Carlotta Berti;

Una Vita Normale by Irene Sollazzo.

After this laboratory, everyone moved to Cre.Zi Plus Room, recently restored, where IDS staff members set up a welcome dinner for all the guests. However, everyone in the room had to play a game in order to get food and drink. The game’s final goal was to promote dialogue and to share experiences.

Tutors sticked on participants’ backs a piece of paper with a word: everyone had to find the person with an other word to obtain a perfect combination (for example Yin and Yang). Once they found each other they could get the reward.
